CGF was created as a partnership that combines public and private investment and forms part of the UK Government’s Clean Growth Strategy. With a £20m cornerstone investment through the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Energy Innovation Programme, and a £20m investment from CCLA, the Fund strengthens the UK’s world-leading green finance capabilities by pooling public and private capital to invest in new, early stage clean technology ventures.
CGF’s Managing Partner Beverley Gower-Jones has worked with CCLA on the concept for a low carbon venture fund since May 2016. Since that time, they have jointly developed the Fund’s investment strategy in response to the Government’s policy commitment to support a new clean technology early stage investment fund: the CGF realises this vision.
We decided that it was time for CCLA to invest in the very best early stage technologies to support the UK’s net zero objective. In partnership with BEIS, we have developed a solution, the Clean Growth Fund. Through the Clean Growth Fund, we now look forward to working with other investors to support exciting, young UK companies aiming to reduce carbon emissions.
