Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)
BEIS is the UK Government department that brings together responsibilities for business, industrial strategy, science, innovation, energy and climate change.
BEIS is responsible for delivering a comprehensive industrial strategy, leading the UK Government’s relationship with business and tackling climate change. It ensures that the country has secure energy supplies that are reliable, affordable and support clean growth, and that the UK remains at the leading edge of science, research and innovation. The Clean Growth Fund forms part of BEIS’ £505 million Energy Innovation Programme, which aims to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative clean energy technologies and processes into the 2020s and 2030s.

Carbon Limiting Technologies (CLT)
CLT is a consultancy specialising in supporting corporates, innovators, investors and the public sector to commercialise clean technologies.
CLT is one of the longest established clean tech incubators in the UK and has supported over 350 transformative technology SMEs scale to market in a broad range of industry sectors. It has supported BEIS’s £72m Energy Entrepreneurs Fund programme for over seven years. Through the programme, CLT has delivered incubation support services to 135 companies.
Northstar Ventures is headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne and will provide the Fund with governance and investment services.
Northstar Ventures has been investing its own funds under management since 2004, primarily supporting early stage technology businesses in the North East of England. It is a generalist technology investor with experience of investing across a range of sectors including digital, clean tech, healthcare and manufacturing.
